Greek Mythology

      Aeolus, gr.Αίολος, according to Greek mythology, the god and lord of the winds, son of Poseidon and Arnin. He lived in a cave on the island of Lipari in the Aeolianarchipelago, which is kept and from which it is administered and order a wind.



Among the most important Eolovim winds were eight brothers Anemon:
  • Borej, violent north wind;
  • Notos, the south wind, warm and humid;
  • Büros, dry east wind that brings good weather;
  • Zephyr, gentle and mild west wind;
  • Caicos Islands, northeast wind which carries the hands of Olives;
  • Apeliotes, southeast wind that carries the hands of ripe fruit;
  • Libos, south-west wind wrapped fog;
  • Skiron, northwest wind carrying a urn full of water, always ready to pour on the ground.
     Aeolus had six sons and six daughters who got married to each other and the new birth to the windsWhen Odysseuson his return from Troy, landed with his boat to the island of Lipari,hosted by the EolTouched by his story of his wanderings in search of his native Ithacahe decided to help. He gave him a paunch which is closed all the evil winds unfavorablefor navigation, and Zefiro, mild west wind, ordered to accompany him on the tripWhile Odysseus slept and his ships sailed to the eastsome of his comrades, believing that the paunch is a treasure that Odysseus was denied them, open the paunch, which wentall the wicked winds, causing such a storm that only survived Odysseus` ship
